So tonight is a pretty significant night for rock and roll at Bluesfest. Not because they are showcasing a great rock and roll act; rather, because another type of rock and roll 'act' is getting the festival re-named 'Tweedfest'.
Now of course that is untrue, but it's that type of talk that seems to overshadow what really should be talked about. So let me, Doug, gives rock and roll advice to you:
At 6:00pm go get warmed up with some straight forward rock and roll from The Arkells
At 7:00 you have three great choices. You have the choice of continuing down the simple rock and roll path by checking out Ottawa's GOOD2GO, or you could check out Eppiphane who have written one of the best songs I've ever heard from a local artist! (Go to their Myspace and listen to 7 roads to 4 homes, and amagine hearing that live against the breeze of the Ottawa river). That or you could check out the 'beast' of the night, Beast, who will be a highlight to the entire festival for sure.
Then you can go check out Kiss, why not? Missing them would be like skipping the fireworks on Canada day, which I hear may be changed to 'Gene Simmons Day' next year.
Just don't forget that Kiss is opening up for my radio show, which will air tonight at Midnight EST on CHUO.FM
Lot's of fun Bluesfest stories to tell!
