DYH August 27th 2009

Show notes for 'Do You Hear What I Hear?' August 27th 2009:

Last weeks show was all about metal and being alone. Not that listening to metal has anything to do with being alone; rather, my co-host Nebraska Penny was away on special assignment, leaving me alone with a pile of music, and thousands of ears waiting to be fed.

Side note: Ears eat music.

To start the night off right, I wanted to give my audience a taste of the metal scene in Ottawa. What they got was a slice of metal from the now expired Namesake.

Side note: Only the band expired. The music is still audible/edible to the ears.

With the scent of metal now in the air,  I proceeded to offer a three course meal of music. I decided to serve-up only three albums this week because I was expecting calls from each of the bands, and wanted to leave enough time for my audience to digest it all.

Side note: I'm going to stop using the 'eating' metaphors because they are making me hungry.

Two of the three bands ended up calling in. The third band said that they were having phone problems, but I believe that they were too busy enjoying the show to call in.

In place of the third call, I decided to play some new metal (not nu-metal) releases from the CHUO library.

Side note: I don't remember what I played after the three bands, so it probably wasn't that good. (should have played some nu-metal)

The three bands that I featured were:

Chronoshift: Death Metal from Miramichi, New Brunswick.

Special Ops: Metal/Rock/Alternative from Montreal, Quebec.

Stareblind: Metal/Rock/Alternative from Montreal, Quebec.

The show can be heard in its entirety under the CHUO link above.
